March 6th at Polo Fields Golf and Country Club, 6:30 p.m.
The following is a link to the Lakewood Auction held on March 6th. Please come and help us to support and celebrate our school community: Lakewood Auction – Roaring 20s.
We’re also looking for volunteers to help out at the auction. Sign up for a small time commitment and plenty of fun!
Last year’s auction raised $30,000 for our Lakewood Lizard Community, 60% of our annual PTO budget! These funds are used to pay for teacher classroom supplies, field trip entrance fees and busing, events such as VIP breakfast and the Disability Awareness Workshop, and it helps to pay for a portion of 5th grade camp. In addition to these annual budget items, thanks to this community’s generosity, we have been able to pay for the rock wall in the gym, painting of the hallways and MPR, bulletin boards and a brand new teacher book room. If that isn’t reason enough to go to the auction, consider it a fun evening out to connect with other parents and teachers with dinner, drinks and dancing.
Start saving your coins! Students can donate coins to their classroom everyday during the week of February 10 – 14 to help raise money for Lakewood. Classes will compete to see who can collect the most money to win a pizza party sponsored by the Lakewood PTO. This is a fun way for students to get involved in raising money for their school and have a great time while doing it! If parents are interested, they are welcome to match the donations of their child’s classroom. Thank you for supporting our school!
Lakewood Student Council is hosting a Food Drive, December 9th– 18th
- Please bring any non-perishable canned or boxed food to school.
- Boxes will be located at the front of the school for donations.
- All donations will go to Food Gatherers of Ann Arbor.
Due to inclement weather tonight’s PTO meeting is cancelled. We are unsure if it will be rescheduled at this time, but will let the Lakewood community know as soon as a decision is made. Thank you for understanding!
Join us on Election Day (no school) November 5th from 1-8pm at Noodles & Company for the flavors you love while we help the Lakewood PTO. Mention this fundraiser and 25% of the sales will benefit Lakewood PTO.
CANCELED: Lakewood Fall Garden Cleanup Lakewood’s School Garden clean-up will be canceled due to the weather forecasted for tomorrow, November 2nd. The garden still needs cleaning and we will be making arrangements for an alternate time. If you are interested in helping at a time that works best for you, then please reach out to Samantha Cucu, firstname.lastname@example.org

Once our goal is reached, Principal Latour has agreed to sleep overnight on the roof of the school. Donation and volunteer opportunities can be found on the Fun Run Sign Up.
Donations can be sent to the school with checks made out to Lakewood PTO, or submitted online at: Fun Run Donation.
Welcome to the 2019-20school year! On behalf of the Lakewood Elementary School PTO, we welcome back our returning families and extend a warm welcome to all the new families joining us this year.
We appreciate and need the involvement of EVERY Lakewood Parent, and are so very excited for this year, working alongside each of you. As many of you know, public school budgets are limited. Without our individual financial and emotional support, many enrichment activities would no longer be possible.Last year the PTO budget allowed for our Lizards to participate in many fun and enriching opportunities. Some examples include: assemblies, field trips, International Night, Robotics, special breakfasts, Field Day, and many more! In addition, through the PTO’s Great Ideas campaign, we were able to provide capital and academic improvements to the school including painting the MPR, a new rock wall in the gym, and an updated book room that is one of the first of its kind in the district. The PTO also providesfinancial support for teachersto purchase supplies, run events like Kindergarten Roundup, and has paid for teacher professional development.
The PTO raises these funds in four primary ways:
- Direct donations
- The Lakewood Auction
- Fun Run
- Smaller fundraisers that add up – Dominos, Kroger, Restaurant Fundraisers, etc.
Most parents are surprised to learn that the PTO spends approximately $200per student each year! Of that, $135goes directly to student enrichment, events, and academic support, among other things. $65 fully funds all field trips so that no children are asked to pay to participate. Please know that ANY amount assists us in creating a better experience for the students of Lakewood – your children!
Donations can be made by returning the attached envelope to the school, online through our website, www.ptolakewood.com, or directly at https://a2lakewood-pto.cheddarup.com! If you donate by envelope to the school and would like a receipt, please make sure to include your name and address.
Also, we always need help from parents to make activities possible. Please consider signing up to help with at least one event. You can sign up at the PTO bulletin board outside of the officeor through our volunteer coordinators, Sarah Nelson(email@example.com)and Theresa Kiefer-Taylor (firstname.lastname@example.org).
We look forward to working with you this year and would love to see you at a PTO meeting. All meetings are the second Monday of the month in the library at 6:30. Children are welcome. Please contact us if you have questions or would like to get involvedat email@example.com
